API import (VIP 2+)

API imports stay in sync — new trades appear automatically without re-uploading CSV files.

API key permissions

Create a read-only API key with no withdrawal permissions. Ledger only needs read access to your trade history.

  1. Create a read-only API key in your exchange settings

  2. Go to Imports → Connect exchange

  3. Paste the API key and secret

  4. Click Connect — Ledger performs an initial sync and then polls for new trades

Handling duplicates

If you import the same exchange twice (e.g. overlapping CSV date ranges), Ledger deduplicates by transaction ID. You will not end up with duplicate entries.

Unsupported exchanges

For exchanges not in the supported list, use the generic CSV template under Imports → Manual CSV. Map your columns to Ledger's schema and save the mapping for future imports.
